update

Sorry for the disappearance of the blog updates. I have PLENTY to share but it may have to wait. My grandma, who I visit every year down in San Luis Obispo is not doing well right now. My sister and I are flying out first thing tomorrow morning so we can see her one last time. Although I heard she's very weak, I am hoping I can let her know how much I love her, hold her hand, give her kisses and thank her for everything she given me in order to have such a wonderful life. She taught me how to make the most delicious cookies, she taught me how to knit, which I am extremely passionate about and she also gave birth to my father who I miss dearly and if it wasn't for him, I would not be typing these words at this moment.

I love you Grandma!!! Please be at peace!

Relay for Life

About a month ago, I went down to Columbia River High School at 11:00 pm to get ready for my late-night time slot. As part of Relay For Life, each team had to have at least one of their team members on the school track for every minute of the 24-hour relay. For some reason, I enjoy the late shift. I get to see the tearful luminary walk, which starts close to midnight.

They normally dim the lights, give a quiet speech on the main stage, a sad song plays and everybody starts the slow march around the track, looking down upon brightly-lit decorated bags which line the track inside and out. Up in the dark bleachers, luminaries are lined up in such a way that the word “HOPE” glows down upon us slowly moving around the track. There are luminaries which read “In honor of:” and then the name of a person who has experienced cancer and “With love from:” which then marks the name of the contributor who donated money to have a candle lit in this precious paper bag. The other bags are ones for those loved ones who have gone on. Those ones read “In memory of:” with the name of their contributor. This year, I decided to include a little visual memory for one of my luminaries.

The photo is of me and my father and was taken on a family reunion Tahoe camping adventure. He bought those hats specifically for our trip. I was happy to drag myself around the track at 3:30 am.

Please feel free to look for a “relay for life” in your area and next year, you can also experience this amazing event. I’m not sure how much our team raised but I know it’s close to $10,000 and all benefits go to the American Cancer Society . Call me an optomist but there has to be a cure someday!!!

Rainbow puke and initiative

Welcome to the many photos of rainbow puke. I finished this MONTHS ago and have not yet sent it to the alreay knowing recipient. I figured that if I finally posted these pictures, I would get this in the mail. It's incentive so now that I released the pictures, I may actually get this thing sent out!

So, long ago, I had a bunch of this yarn intended for a baby blanket. Unfortunately it just did not happen, even after 2 very large attempts. I put aside the yarn for another time. Well when clapotis came out, I knew it was something I wanted to try. I decided I'd just do it for fun. The whole time it knitted up, I would show friends and davey and the usual reaction was..."well, the pattern is really cool" or "your knitting is nice" but the colors...it had bright rainbow colors but added brown and tans which made the techno-color yarn, look like they had been yakked up after a long afternoon up by my dog.

Sorry but I thought true...until I finished it. Even davey was impressed with the finished product and the yarn, turned out very pretty. I would have loved it for myself. I used the really soft Interlcements Toasty Toes yarn which was not inexpensive but worth it! Now to find a box! Enjoy the photos! Posted by Picasa
