hyperparathyroidism

I just had my 3rd surgery to remove parathyroid gland in my neck and had some grafted in my left forearm. I hope my pth levels go down! Will know more 1/27/2010.

Just thought I'd post this for whatever reason.

I wish I could read blogs of others who have gone through the same thing!

Someone in the office balanced the duck on the dog's head and against a tortilla chip in Homer's mouth. Earlier, Homer stood with just a chip in his mouth and i accidentally knocked it out. (because he has hula-hips that sway back and forth) I couldn't even get the chip back! Apparently the duck needs to hold it in...

Sadly, no, at least not when this was taken.

These are my dogs back legs. I don't think he realizes where they are. He has Degenerative Myelopathy and it can be common in German Shepherds. Kirby is a Boxer/Shepherd mix and from his first diagnosis in April 08, I've noticed a fast down-hill progression.

"Degenerative myelopathy (DM) is thought to be a possible immune disorder of the spinal cord that results in destruction of the neural pathways."

Basically, it's when the dogs lose strength and sensation in their back legs. Many dogs, especially if they are young when diagnosed benefit and have wonderful, happy lives using the 2 wheeled carts. Kirby is much too old and crotchety for that. He is 13 this month and even his front legs are getting tired.

I guess I just needed to post this so I've got it noted for history, dates etc.

Now, I'm going to go cry.

It's not what you think.

It was on my This American Life podcast from 7/18/2008.

Act One. Guilty As Not Charged had me in tears... literally sobbing one quiet Sunday afternoon. Of course, I have been known to cry over anything and everything but this was justifiable.

Author Darin Strauss talks about when he was a young teenager and accidentally killed a girl from his school.

Warning, it is a very sad story but really makes you appreciate your life and in my case, have even more compassion for others.

Here's some proof that we DID climb St Helens and made it back down alive!
I think that's pretty good for someone who's 70... and of course, out of shape 30-something year old.

This was MUCH better than my last climb 2 years ago. My knee hardly sore when we got to the bottom and my time was nearly half of the time from 2006. I want to say thanks to my trainer at the gym and Jim for being so supportive and my mom for believing in me...

And I want to thank my 4th grade teacher, Mrs. Frost, and the lady at 7-11 and the neighbor who always waves at me... I could go on... but I won't.
Acutally, I will. Thanks to Julie who was my math teacher from 2 years ago who said I could do it the first time. Maybe next summer she can join us! It's ever year, August 5th, as long as it doesn't erupt!

I ordered 8 sarcococca online from hereonswood nursery and when they were delivered, I was surprised how small they were considering the cost but hey as long as they grow, I'm happy. One of them however, is not a sarcococca but from the looks of it, a vine...or a tree. I'm not sure but it is defintely a different plant. I can't wait to see what it grows up to be!

For whatever reason tonight, I came home, logged onto the laptop and decided to go revisit some of my favorite blogs that I used to read, long before the job and studying stole my free time away.

Point is...stoned knitter (awww yea, she rocks) brought up "Project 365". something like a photo-a-day I guess. Anyway, I figure that today is as good a day as any to start!
I got so excited, running around, searching for my camera, thinking of what today's picture should be, the dog was also sharing his opinion of the whole debacle.

Now, question is, can I take a picture every single day????

The things on my sister's hands. That adorable little slice of colorful lovins is kirby's favorite ummm...cousin, Max. His given name is Maxwell Smart. I've been known to call him Max, Wing-nut, monkey (lately), maxi-pie, MP Slammer (for MC Hammer), freak, baby, sweetie-pie and I could go on but my all-time favorite is "Maxi-pad". Kirby sure was so happy when they visited about a month ago. When she was here, I knitted those little wristwarmers for my sister to keep her little artist's hands warm...only to find out she's likely going to be moving to Sacramento, aka....sack-u-tomatoes.

BTW, this dog...can curl his tongue and drill it all the way up your nose-hole into your sinuses if you're not careful!

It's been over a month since I have posted and I'm not sure if it's because I have been so busy with work...and play. Either way, I just haven't been posting enough and do feel a little guilt but not too much because I know that only a few people visit but those who do...I apologize! For what it's worth, snowboarding is stellar this year and my work responsibilities continue to grow and expand.

So maybe I have pondered this decision in the past but again, I feel the need to re-adress. I am wondering if I should jump on the Myspace bandwagon and expand on that site but then some of my friends and family members would have to create their own account to log on to myspace to see all details, pictures, etc. Is it worth it? Myspace is SO popular and the it seems those who use it regularly, love it.

I do love this site. I love the fact I have pictures and stories on here from a year ago. I love the fact that it's easy to get to and it's not too terribly difficult to update (html codes, etc.) I love my Bloglines and I have not figured how Myspace would fit in that application.

I am not too fond of myspace for one silly reason that I know should just get-over. Whenever I log on, I tend to feel like I am involved in this HUGE popularity contest that I have no right being involved in. It reminds me of highschool again and although I had wonderful friends back then, I could not stand that "who's cool and who's not" part of it all.

I guess I should just sit on this..at least for today, discuss it over with friends/family and decide where to go from there.

I hate decisions but those who know me, already know that!

Catch up time...

A week ago, Saturday, I drove to San Luis Obispo and back. My dog is SO spoiled that I insisted that my sister dog-sit while we were on vacation. It's perfect...she hasn't been up in a while and it's been years since Kirby has seen her little dog, Max. Kirby is SO happy to have his play-mate back! I will definitely include pictures as soon as I have time.

Wednesday the 22nd, friends and I drove to Whistler, Canada for a few days and then stopped in Vancouver BC Saturday night. Canada is amazing. Whistler is absoutely gorgeous and the condo we stayed in left me realizing how nice it would be to be rich. The snowboarding was awesome, the people were so much fun and we all had a fabulous time! I left my laptop and cell phone at home. GASP! And yes, I did survive!!!

When I wasn't riding or sleeping, I was a knittin fool! I finished my mother's day gift and started on some new puppy slippers for those surprise baby showers I am sure will pop up along the year. I have the hankering to start a new and bigger project tho. Part of me thinks I should frog Rogue and start it all over. How bad coudl that be? I'm sure people have knitted and frogged rogue before. I'm actually tempted to do the must have cardigan but the everyday cardigan looks much easier. Hmmmm....3 options and which one should I do?
My bets are with Rogue at this moment.

Right now, my sister from SLO is staying at my house, stranded I'm sad to say because David and I have both cars but she has the entertainment of the dogs. She has plenty of beer, tivo, art supplies and of course, the internet. Davey doesn't work tomorrow so hopefully they can go play in portland and have some fun "out" time.

I would have loved to have an extra day or two vacation but the first week of the month is the busiest time for me so I haaaave to be in the office. BLAH

Well, back to it!!!
Perhaps I will celebrate a long work day with dinner and drinks at beulahland. It is Trivia Tuesday and my sister, like the rest of my siblings is a genius! She hasn't been there since they expanded so I think it's a must-do for tonight!

Needless to say, I have NO idea where I am at on this and it's been this way for many many months. Please understand, it was my first attempt at anything huge and complicated and first attempt ever at cables. I did get all backwards and messed up some of the stitches reeeally bad. I finally understand the whole cable thing and am tempted to frog it but I think I like the foibles and blatent mistakes. It was made for me...by me. I think it looks cute. It's definitley got character!

Now how do I figure out where I left off so I can finish the freakin thing??

The sooner I finish this, the sooner I can start another one in a neato color! But for whoooo????

so it's been a long while since my last post....when I promised more. Sorry my sweet family and friends. I have a new good reason to update this site more often. So I forgot how to post pictures and link to websites because I've spent the last few months only reading blogs and updating big, crazy, excel reports for my japanese friends. I literally forgot how to do this. I've been knitting like crazy but the progress seems slow. I will definintely post some of the pics...despite they MAY be secret gifts for you, the readers! hee hee

So..for today, I'm back.
I'm going to be busy busy over the next couple weeks. I've got a real vacaton planned, going to Whistler to snowboard and to have my sister from SLO to visit. Oh my...I'd link to her site but I risk not getting this posted.

O yeah...it's valentines day. No significance here as Davey, the dog and I are all crashed on the couch, just enjoying the evening. I get all my special presents on days that aren't valentine's day. Example: Last week, he came home with a hooge boquet of white Tulips for no apparent reason. The week or two before, I got a gift card for Knit-Purl...a little nifty yarn shop in Portland, Or. Ok, link to site is www.knit-purl.com hee hee. I'm so lazy like that.

Speaking of knit-purl...I'm going to get back to one of my special "projects" for a special holiday coming up which celebrates the love of a specific family member. OK, so it just might take me 3 months to finish this little giftie since I do like having different yarns and projects to pick from on any given day.
